This reborn baby girl from SCOM has many beautiful features. It also has a few things that are not as expected based on the listing details at the time of this review. These things are the way I read the listing, or were not clarified, not actually in conflict. The listing states “This reborn baby doll made from non-toxic and eco-friendly high-quality vinyl material, complies with safety requirements ASTM F963 and EN71, suitable for children aged 3 and above.” I gathered from this information that the whole doll was vinyl. It is not. The body is a neutral colored felt. The body starts at the joint in the arm, the neck and the legs. The type of clothing I choose will have to cover this area because in my opinion seeing this area is a drastic distraction from the other features that are so well done. The fabric body looks fake in direct contrast to the vinyl head, arms and legs that look completely real in my opinion. The listing states the doll is poseable. I did find that the joints can move at the fabric vinyl joint in most directions. Looking at the back of the doll, where the head connects and looking at the area where the vinyl arms and legs connect, there are fabric flaps with hard areas that feel like hard glue. This section is about the size of a dime at each junction. Another issue that is as advertised yet doesn’t work as expected, is the magnetic pacifier. In several photos I have the pacifier upside down. It falls off the same amount of times if upside down or right side up. Any jostle and the pacifier falls off. ( see my video attached to this review simulating a 3 year old sitting the doll down ) This has been frustrating to my 3 year old niece. For now, I have put away the magnetic pacifier. When it fell on the floor one of the times, the dog grabbed it, thinking it was food. Thankfully, she didn’t off with it. The pouty face, the real eyelashes, the almost too perfect French manicure on the fingernails and toenails are all very well done. The hair is nice and almost too long, in my opinion. If I was better at hairdressing or wanted to take her to a beautician, it could be cut and styled differently, having hair that is too long is a much better problem than too short. The doll’s hair is pretty disheveled upon arrival even though the doll has a hair net over her hair and the flower headband upon arrival. I used a wig spray conditioner and a clothes steamer to tame her locks. It helped get the back turned areas of her hair to look more natural. The skin tone along with the flushed skin in areas having pinker tones and seeing tiny veins through the skin plus tiny folds make the overall look (when the fabric body is hidden) more realistic than I could have ever imagined. I am deducting 1 Star for the fabric body and the pacifier falling out repeatedly. As I mentioned above, the fabric body is not mentioned or pictured in the listing details at the time of this review. If the other features were not so over the top, and amazing, I would have deducted 2 Stars for this issue. I have photographed most of the details that I mention in my review. Along with the things that make this doll very pretty. As I am writing this, there are no existing reviews of this reborn SCOM baby girl. I hope to allow the next buyers to see all the details that I was unaware of when I chose her. I do think this is a beautiful option and don’t regret my choice. I recommend this reborn baby girl based on the details I have outlined above.
