I am an adult collector of dolls of all shapes, types, and sizes and I’ve been collecting since I was a child. I must say that I was very excited to welcome Jilly Bing to our doll family. I had heard of Jilly Bing before when doing research about multicultural dolls because I like to have representation in my collection. However, I waited to get her because she is on the more expensive side when it comes to 14 inch dolls. Jilly Bing is ABSOLUTELY worth her price tag. What you get is the doll dressed in a 3 piece outfit (including underwear) with shoes, a hat that turns into a little tart friend, two bandana pieces that can make a floor mat, and a comb. The inside of her box also duplicates as a little play kitchen which is cute and unique although I didn’t keep it. Her hair comes in a ponytail with a braid, but I took the ponytail out to play with her hair. Her hair is SO silky, maybe the silkiest doll hair I’ve every felt. Her body is made from vinyl that is very smooth and almost soft to the touch, but it isn’t squeezable. Her arms and legs don’t bend. I wanted to compare her to other 14 inch dolls that I have including 2 Madame Alexander dolls, a Wellie Wisher, and a Glitter Girl (older style that is similar to Jilly because the arms and legs do not bend like the newer style ones). Jilly seems to be ever so slightly shorter than the other dolls, but otherwise she is proportionate. Her face size is more like the Madame Alexander ones (pictured on the ends of the line in my photos). Since she doesn’t have a line of clothing, I wanted to see how she fit in both the Glitter Girls clothing and the Wellie Wisher clothing. Glitter Girls was a bit snugger on her and harder to get on, but they work! The Wellie Wisher clothing was very easy to put on her and fit her better than the Glitter Girl outfit I tried on. Shoes for both Wellies and Glitter Girls fit her fine. I absolutely am in love with Jilly Bing. Her expression makes me so happy and I’m very glad to have an authentic Asian doll in my doll family. She is worth every penny.
