The bed is assembled primarily by screwing metal screws into flimsy plastic barrel bolts. The screws are too wide for the bolts, and cannot be screwed in all the way. Also, some of the bolts were totally mangled. (See photos.) I tried to tighten the screws, my husband tried, and finally I took the pieces to our hardware store to see if they had any suggestions. Two different guys at the hardware store tried to screw the screws into the bolts, and no one could close the gap between the bed railings and headboard more than 1/4 inch. I thought that thinner screws might work, but was persuaded by the hardware store guys not to do that, because they were concerned it might strip the plastic barrel bolts. I also considered using an electric screwdriver, but the instructions say not to use power tools, I assume because it will splinter the pieces. I purchased this in November 2023, and this seems like a new issue. Unless you can be sure they aren’t still using these plastic barrel bolts, I wouldn’t waste your time!
